You wanna fight?

WildDog, ready to throw down for a serious play fight after I made him chase a rock.

Later, he would get mud in my shorts.

Learning by the Foot

Making a bulletin board is a lot of work. But, when that bulletin board is 24 feet long and covers 130 square feet, it’s a looooooooooot of work. Wait until you see this. Arguably one of the greatest moments in elementary education history.  Read more

GoWild: Disc Golf in McKinney

Today, Sarah and I made an important discovery: There is more in this universe than meetings and computer screens. Things like sunshine. Trees. Creeks. And little plastic frisbees.

Today, we went disc golfing at the very fun Alex Clark Memorial course in McKinney. We were both over due for a nature detox treatment. Don’t let her charming personality fool you, Sarah is a disc golf machine!

Here are some photos….

Outstanding in this field

I’m outstanding. Like literally out standing. As in two feet firmly planted in some freshly tilled soil.

Taking some lessons from my last time lapse attempt, I’m taking advantage of the 80 degree weather today and taking another pass at a sunset time lapse.

That’s a lot of taking. So I hope I’m getting a better result this time.

Among the things I will do differently will be to process each still frame in Lightroom 3 before converting the sequence to video. That extra step will give me finer contrast and color control.

If this doesn’t end well, the effort is still a win thanks to this front row seat to a stunning sunset.

Anniversary 2: “Let’s Go to NYLO.”

Two years ago, we said, “I do.” Today, we still does.

Sarah and I have a strange and wonderful relationship – I’m strange and she’s wonderful. But, somehow, she’s still smiling. In a world were so many couples struggle, what Sarah and I share is a cause for thankfulness, gratitude, pride and humility. And it’s a reason to celebrate.

So we did.

We staged a little “staycation” this weekend in our hometown, stayed at a fun place called NYLO, and lounged by the pool. It’s amazing how a short, simple getaway can be so fun when your best friend tags along!

She knew it must be Owen when: Using his laptop and assorted cables and connectors from his location bag, he rigged the hotel TV to stream netflix movies.

He knew it must be Sarah when: She requested cocoanut shrimp from Outback. They’re her favorite.

They knew they were lucky to have each other when: They were both happy to slip on 3D glasses and watch Toy Story 3.

Strange and wonderful, indeed. Happy anniversary, babe!
