Some people may not agree with me, but I think disc golf is fun. I didn’t say that I’m very good at it. Just that it’s a great excuse to go outside and throw plastic discs at stuff.
One reason that I’m not very good at disc golf is because I have a terrible backhand shot. Most players rely on the backhand shot as their go-to technique for nice, steady drives. Me? I’ve got a pretty solid forehand flick, but my backhand shot goes about 100 feet max — and that’s if I get a lucky ricochet off an unlucky tree.
Until today.
I was cruising youtube last night when I found this 13 minute long video that gave me so, such as:
- how to grip the disc properly
- how to snap your wrist at the release point of your throw
- where you’re supposed to point your right butt cheek when you throw (true story)
I must have a big butt cheek, because the tips in this video made a big difference.

That’s about a 150 foot improvement from my usual drives. So, if you like disc golf but you don’t like your drives, this vid might offer a handy tip or two.
