When you think “Grapevine, Texas” $900 ceramic clown clocks and costumed skeletons aren’t what come to mind.

Named for the wild grapes that grew in the area, Grapevine is now best known for the Texas-sized mall and resort that lure motorists from Highway 121.

But this weekend, we grabbed a couple of friends, and went a little further off the beaten path to check out Grapevine’s historic downtown. All told, we had a “grape” time.
