Ever take a door to the car wash? That’s ok. Me neither. Until yesterday. But sometimes, when you what to hang a door on the wall, you have to do some strange things.
We’re slowly making progress on getting the ol’ Casa de Wildman up and running. When you’re the kind of people who don’t like to spend baskets of cash on home furnishings and the kind of people who’d rather not go the Walmart route, it takes a while to find bargain treasures. That’s ok. It’s fun to look around at everything and see stories.
So, our goal this weekend was to do something with the sad blank space about the couch. It’s a big couch. And a big wall.
We rummaged around for ideas. We needed some texture. And when you need texture, sometimes you have to do strange things. What about an old door? Why not? Sarah wasn’t sure.
But now there’s a door on the wall. The whole thing still needs some more….something. Any ideas on finishing up the look?
- Sad blank wall above the couch.
- Ever taken a door to the car wash? Me neither.
- Power washing your rustic finds blasts grime. And can lead to desirable paint chips
- Stuff you need to hang a door on the wall.
- Do yourself a favor and invest $20 in laser level.
- Marking the dimensions on the wall can help you visualize the right spot.
- Use lasers as much as possible.
- “X” marks the spot.
- That’s where it’ll go. A-“door”-able.
- No one likes being crushed by a falling door. Use a stud finder to pinpoint studs.
- Check your hanging brackets for level as you fasten them into the studs.
- Add a old face plate with some shiny screws.
- Measure to make sure the wall and door brackets will line up.
- Pardon me, sir, but I believe there’s a door on your wall.
- New and improved! Living room now with a door on the wall!
Some ideas….mirror tiles in the 5 insets, OR using the 5 insets for unique photos, OR a combination of photos & words in them, OR great Scripture verses written in them, OR putting some cool hooks on it and hanging things off of it, OR painting the insets some neat color/colors (maybe some of the great colors in the floor rug), or a combination of any of these.
SO fun you guys! Great job re-purposing! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!
Love watching y’alls clevernesses unfold. Really cute idea! Great job on hanging it!
